About Me

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Meru University of Science and Technology. My academic journey started with BSc Biochemistry from Moi University, Kenya, in 2008, culminating in a PhD in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Oxford, UK, in 2015. During training my research primarily focused on malaria host-pathogen interactions, especially the adhesion phenotypes of Plasmodium-infected red blood cells. I have a keen interest in leveraging molecular biology to enhance clinical diagnostics and patient outcomes. Recently, my focus has shifted towards utilizing computational biology to explore and answer compelling research questions through the analysis of publicly available genomic data. I have a passion for nurturing and training the next generation of scientists, particularly those interested in genomics and bioinformatics. I am eager to serve as a mentor, offering my experience, insights, and networks to help shape the future of these promising graduates.
