Nelson obtained his BSc, MSc, and Ph.D. at the University of Nairobi and possesses a wealth of expertise in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. His research has mainly focused on microbial interactions in the biodegradation of environmental pollutants for the development of eco-friendly remediation strategies of contaminated sites. His interest is to leverage omics techniques to study the role of microbial communities in the removal of persistent pollutants for improved environmental and human health. As a participant in the BBPSK mentorship programme, He is looking forward to offering academic, career, and research mentorship to the next generation of scientists.
