AMR Funding

The UK National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has launched a major funding call to support research addressing bacterial and fungal antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The programme seeks innovative, implementation-focused research that can strengthen health systems, improve infection prevention and diagnosis, enhance antimicrobial stewardship, and generate evidence for policy and practice.

Researchers from low- and middle-income countries are encouraged to lead multidisciplinary partnerships that develop scalable solutions to reduce the burden of AMR, particularly among vulnerable populations. Funding ranges from approximately £500,000 to £5 million, depending on the scope and duration of the project.

Deadline: 8 July 2026 (Outline Application)

Funding Agency: National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)
